Fitting tipsPrior to mounting the new HIFI 11081488 fuel filter, thoroughly clean the filter head housing on the engine to remove accumulated dirt and grease. Apply a thin film of clean diesel fuel or engine oil onto the rubber sealing gasket to ensure correct seating and prevent binding. Thread the filter canister onto the mounting stud by hand until the rubber gasket firmly meets the mating face, then apply an additional 3/4 turn manually. Do not use mechanical filter wrenches for final tightening to avoid damaging the canister or thread. After installation, bleed all trapped air from the low-pressure fuel system and check for leaks with the engine running.
