Fitting tipsPrior to installing the new Granit 38016871 fuel lift pump, thoroughly clean the mounting pad face on the engine block, removing all old gasket material, grease, and dirt. Inspect the camshaft eccentric lobe for flat spots or excessive wear. Always fit a new flange gasket (matching code 38015092) dry or with a light coating of gasket grease. Guide the pump lever carefully against the camshaft eccentric and tighten the 2 mounting fasteners evenly to the specified torque. Carefully thread the 1/2" 20 UNF fuel line fittings into the pump ports without cross-threading, then manually prime the fuel system using the hand primer lever to bleed air bubbles before starting the engine.
