Genuine CNH 50 mm Angled High-Temperature Sensor Probe (-40°C to +850°C) with Resistor for Case IH Maxxum, New Holland T6 & Steyr Profi / CVT Tractors - Part Number: 38017883
The high-temperature exhaust gas temperature sensor (EGTS) with an angled 50 mm stem (part number 38017883, original CNH OEM references 47478880, 47367178, 87482353) is an OEM-grade thermal monitoring component built to measure extreme exhaust temperatures across diesel oxidation catalysts (DOC), diesel particulate filters (DPF), and selective catalytic reduction (SCR / DEF) circuits. Designed with an angled (90°) probe geometry and a 50 mm immersion length, it incorporates a high-precision resistance-based sensor element delivering a wide measurement spectrum from -40°C up to +850°C. Encased in a heat-resistant refractory stainless steel sheath, it withstands severe thermal cycling, manifold pulsations, and corrosive exhaust gases, supplying continuous thermal telemetry to the engine control unit (ECU/DCU) for optimal DPF regeneration and AdBlue® dosing. It provides direct plug-and-play fitment on Case IH Maxxum, New Holland T6 (including Stage V models), and Steyr Profi / Profi CVT tractor ranges.
Key Features & Engineering Advantages
- Broad Operating Temperature Range (-40°C to +850°C): High-precision thermoresistive sensing element engineered to track high-heat exhaust surges accurately during active DPF regeneration cycles and sustained full-load field tasks.
- Angled Stem Configuration (50 mm Length): Precision 90° bend on the 50 mm insertion probe allows installation in compact, restricted engine compartments, guiding the lead wire safely away from red-hot manifold surfaces.
- Refractory Stainless Steel Construction: High-grade heat-resistant alloy probe resists thermal shock, exhaust gas corrosion, sulfur compounds, and heavy mechanical vibration.
- Sealed Automotive Socket & Thermal Sleeve: Heavy-duty wiring harness protected by heat-reflective sleeving and an IP67/IP69K sealed connector against dust, oil, moisture, and high-pressure washdowns.
- Direct CNH OEM Replacement: Fully interchangeable with factory part numbers 47478880, 47367178, and 87482353 across Case IH, New Holland, and Steyr agricultural platforms.

Installation Advice & Workshop Notes: Always allow the exhaust system to cool completely before removing the old probe to prevent severe burns, and disconnect the battery prior to work. If threads are seized due to carbon baking or exhaust heat, apply a high-temperature penetrating fluid and allow it to soak before attempting removal. Clean the internal boss threads with a suitable thread chaser prior to installing the new probe. Tighten exclusively on the metallic threaded nut using a calibrated torque wrench according to CNH manual specifications; never twist the angled probe body or pull on the wire harness. Secure the cable with original retaining heat clips to avoid contact with glowing exhaust manifolds or moving belts. Clear any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) with a CNH electronic service tool after installation.
