Genuine CNH Downstream / Outlet Exhaust NOx Sensor for Case IH Maxxum, New Holland T6 & Steyr Profi / CVT Tractors - Part Number: 380170017
The electronic nitrogen oxide (NOx) exhaust gas sensor (downstream / outlet position post-SCR) (part number 380170017, original CNH OEM references 48197996, SKNOX488, 90335590) is an OEM-grade mechatronic emissions monitoring assembly critical for real-time closed-loop exhaust gas management on modern agricultural Stage V diesel engines. Comprising a multi-chamber electrochemical ceramic sensor probe permanently linked to an onboard electronic control module (ballast ECU), it accurately measures tailpipe NOx concentrations (in ppm) and residual oxygen levels exiting the SCR catalytic converter. This sensor allows the engine management system to verify SCR catalytic conversion efficiency, dynamically adapt AdBlue®/DEF dosing, and prevent torque derating or emissions fault codes. It offers direct plug-and-play fitment on Case IH Maxxum, New Holland T6 (including Stage V models), and Steyr Profi / Profi CVT tractor ranges.
Key Features & Engineering Advantages
- Factory-Calibrated Assembly with Integrated Module: Delivered as a pre-calibrated, matched set consisting of the ceramic exhaust probe and dedicated electronic ballast ECU, converting electrochemical readings directly into CAN-bus telemetry.
- Downstream / Outlet Specific Calibration: Engineered specifically for post-SCR exhaust monitoring, verifying chemical reduction efficiency and providing closed-loop feedback to prevent both under-dosing and excessive urea slip.
- High-Response Multilayer Zirconia Ceramic Element: Advanced ZrO2 sensing core with built-in rapid heating element quickly attains stable operating temperatures, avoiding thermal shock and acidic condensation contamination.
- Heat-Shielded Harness & Sealed Enclosure: Heavy-duty high-temperature woven protective sleeve protects signal wiring from intense exhaust heat, paired with an IP67/IP69K sealed socket resistant to field dirt, slurry, and power washing.
- Direct CNH OEM Replacement: Fully interchangeable with factory part numbers 48197996, SKNOX488, and 90335590 across Case IH, New Holland, and Steyr agricultural platforms.

Installation Advice & Workshop Notes: Handle the probe assembly with extreme care: the internal ceramic sensing element is sensitive to impact shocks, drops, and mechanical strain. Ensure the exhaust tract is completely cold before commencing removal, and disconnect the negative battery cable. If the old threaded probe boss is carbon-seized, apply high-temperature penetrating oil and allow sufficient soak time before applying torque. Clean the exhaust boss internal threads using a suitable thread chaser prior to installation. Torque the sensor hex nut strictly to CNH factory torque specifications; never twist the cable harness or the sensor probe body. Mount the control ballast ECU securely to its chassis bracket, orienting the wiring exit to prevent moisture ingress. Once installed, clear stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and perform the NOx sensor calibration/re-learn routine using an authorized CNH diagnostic tool.
